A great surprise treat!

Liked: Very close to train station yet very quiet. Comfy beds and powerful shower. Food in the reading room restaurant was exceptional.

Definitely not 5 star room.

Liked: My room was near the stairwell, the door from the corridor to the stairwell was propped open and it was very noisy- in the middle of the night it sounded like there was cleaning going on and furniture being moved. The room was cold. A window had been left open. Also there was peeling wall paper around the window and the marble on the sink top was stained around the taps. Lighting in the bathroom was dim and it was difficult to view the mirror. The breakfast room was understaffed - there was no one to greet me and show me to a table. I was only offered coffee, no other breakfast options like toast or alternative eggs were offered. The cold buffet poorly stocked and the smoked salmon was tough. The cereal options were limited- no granola. The glass door to the breakfast room was covered in greasy fingerprints- as was the glass panelling in the lift. Definitely not 5 star. I mentioned the noise to the reception when I checked out but no explanation was made.
