Pleasant
Liked: location
Disliked: dirty, we couldn't sit to have a coffee at the bar because the band was playing still expected to pay cover which I think it's ridiculous if you are staying there ,we weren't planning to stay for the show just wanted a coffee.

Comfortable stay and value for...
Liked: It was very easy to check in. The room was old, but very tidy and clean and had all the things I needed for my stay. The location can't be beat for the price. Very well soundproofed from the live performances downstairs, just the street outside is where the noise comes from which is typical for downtown Toronto. Comfortable bed and large enough space. I chose to have my own bathroom which was worth it.
Disliked: Would be nice for more amenities supplied but what they did offer was enough. I think I would have appreciated a box of tissues so I didn't have to use the toilet paper, but that's a minor complaint. It does not have an elevator so people with accessibility issues should be aware of this. The room does get cold fast if you're not running the little radiator. Overall, rather small issues, value for money :)

More than a hotel. It's...
Liked: Perhaps like staying in a museum replicating a 1920s hotel. The walls of the halls were filled with art and posters of bygone eras. Loved going along the hallways of the two lodging floors and stairwells. Rooms were tiny, but with comfortable beds and very clean & well-kept. The greatest treat was walking back from my conference at George Brown University and settling down in the bar to hear great music. Experience better than staying at any corporate chain hotel at many times the price. Location was walkable, bikeable, and filled with great restaurants. High-energy diverse area.
Disliked: I paid a bit more for the private bath, so I did not share a bathroom, although that would have been OK too. That was probably the era experience. As noted, the rooms were tiny, but completely adequate. Would not have wanted to spend much room time beyond sleeping in that great location. As I type here, there really was nothing to put in the box of "didn't like."
