Disappointed, a hotel that lists...

Liked: I liked that it was dog friendly. I’d stayed there previously and had liked what I had got on that occasion. It’s a good location from the town, buses and train station
Disliked: I was placed in what was referred to as the Sun room (not in November) for my evening meal because of my dog accompanying me, it’s part of the entrance to the hotel so people were coming and going making it very drafty Nobody else was seated in this area, there wasn’t any music or atmosphere. On the first evening I was attended to by a very nice waitress who made a fuss of my dog.The food was nice, not anything special for the price. The second evening there were 2 young girls waitressing on the main dining room, 1 of which seemed to have real attitude, the other one took my order & served me my meal in the Sun Room, she never came back to see if I was happy with my food or wanted another drink or to ask if I would like a dessert / coffee Etc. After half an hour of waiting for them to return I went to find the waitresses, they were nowhere to be found. There were only 2 other guests in the dining room, so they weren’t exactly rushed off their feet. I complained to the male receptionist and he apologised and went off to find them. I didn’t bother with dessert. Breakfast was served in the Ballroom, my table was placed away from the rest on the wooden floor because of my small inoffensive dog. I ordered smashed Avocado on toast with poached eggs, when it arrived it was guacamole from a jar not smashed avocado and the 2 poached eggs were cold. I wasn’t offered any toast or preserves. The hotel was Not busy understandable in November, the service at meal times was appalling. The bar was unmanned and I had to get the receptionist to serve me, he was a very nice young man and remembered me staying at the hotel a few years ago. I will not be returning to this hotel, it has certainly deteriorated since I was there a couple of years ago
