Perfect Lake District stay

Liked: A wonderful pub and hotel with the most attentive staff. Everything is done with attention to detail and they’ve managed to combine old charm with modern comfort. The location is great for both walking the hills but also walking into Ambleside when you don’t want something too exhausting. We were planning on going somewhere else for dinner but ended up eating at the hotel every night - because there’s really nothing that makes you want to leave!
Disliked: As is clear, we loved our stay. However, as keen walkers we would have liked to have been able to have had breakfast a little earlier (especially during the late autumn when daylight is limited). But we appreciate that the staff also need a rest!

Great staff, small room right...

Liked: Staff were superb and always helpful. Breakfast was good
Disliked: We booked a superior-double for £200/night after discounts. Main gripe was the rooms are right next to the road - I mean other side of the wall close - and the road noise was dreadful. In addition the room was small and to compensate the bed was small. I’m only 5’11” and my feet hung over the end of the bed! For this sort of money we expected better.
