Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Ruth Sun, 13 April 2025

Disappointing and expensive.

Liked: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed linen was nice quality.
Disliked: The room was gloomy and furnishings were unattractive, uncomfortable and tired. The wardrobe was broken. The pillows were dreadful - so hard they felt solid and very heavy. There was one robe and one pair of slippers provided to share between two, and the towels were small. There were shabby net curtains at the window. The wifi signal was too weak to use. The creaks and disturbance from the room above was unsettling. It was barely possible to access one side of the bed on account of the narrow space by the sharp-cornered fire surround. The room was by the front door and the floor shook ever time another guest entered or left te building.

Thank you Julie, our stay...

Liked: I chose The Priory because it was dog friendly and in a location I knew and needed to be. I especially liked my own entrance, as it was convenient to walk my little dog whenever I wanted without disturbing anyone else. It was quiet, felt safe and secure and there was parking just outside which made unloading/loading the car easy. The microwave was excellent ... we made our simple supper (jacket potatoes in under 5 min each!
Disliked: If we were to say anything, it would only be suggestions and to enhance our already decent stay. The tv in the main area needed to be on a moveable bracket like the one in the bedroom area (apologies if it was, but I didn't want to try any harder in case I broke something) or on a cabinet under the widow. It was too much of a straight angle to watch from the sofa. We did move the sofa slightly to help us watch tv better. A simple rug in front on the sofa, would have made our toes feel a bit toastier. A corner lamp in the living area would be nice, we felt the ceiling lights were just too bright to sit under for a longer time and quite clinical. We thought a few local interest/aritst pictures would have been nice to make it more homely and maybe a curtain to demark the living area from the bedroom area would contribute to that too (inbetween the breakfast bar/bathroom door) as well as a little tub chair and console table by the 'bedroom radiator' just to aid getting dressed or putting shoes on etc. Everything was spotless, but very soon the wall around the bathroom sink will suffer, maybe a tile surround would help?Like we've said, there was nothing we really didn't like ... we felt relaxed, it's just little things that would enhance another stay

Lovely for summer but not...

Liked: The place was lovely, however we stayed in winter so it was cold. The place could do with another way to warm it up. Bring slippers and a dressing gown. There is no carpet and it's a tiled floor.
