Very basic, but the very...

Liked: The dining room staff were very helpful and attentive. Nothing was too much of a problem. The bedroom was very spacious, and although very basic furnishings, it was warm and comfortable - all that we were looking for during our stay.
Disliked: The overall decor of the hotel was a bit tired and in need of a general refurb. The flooring in the corridors was very uneven and creaky, making it difficult to walk on. I am aware that it's not meant to be a 'new build' condition, but the floors are quite awful. Carpets were also threadbare in parts with open joins. Lighting could do with general improving - it is currently neither 'period' or 'atmospheric'. It just has a 70's feel in the evening. Contrasting with during the day (without the lights) when the lounge looked far more inviting.
