Lovely place to stay for...
Liked: Lovely atmosphere in the hotel with a mix of olde world building meets 1930's retro vibe for the furnishings. Staff were all very friendly, helpful and polite. Loved the quirkiness of sloped/vaulted ceilings in our room. Large well appointed bathroom with a good shower. Towels were lovely and big. Facilities in the room were good and there was a nice tray of tea/coffee (which we didn't use). If I was going to Harrogate again I would stay there. The room was reasonably quiet but with the windows being original, noise from the traffic in the morning was quite loud. Good security, felt safe. Very conveniently located for our purposes (passing out parade at the AFC).
Disliked: Its and old building and there was evidence of mould and peeling paint (have sympathy with it since we live in a very old building where the walls are damp). Heck of a drought coming through the beautiful mullion windows which also meant quite a lot of noise from the road outside. Room was small and with the sloping ceilings not much room to manoeuvre around - which wasn't necessarily an issue for a one night stay. The bathroom was very cold, even though we switched the radiator/towel rail on.The number of e-mails and text messages about check-in/check out, adding a payment card etc - my inbox is just mostly emails form the Pine Marten for the last few days, too much.

A perfect Hotel, amazing food,...
Liked: The room was excellent, clean, fresh and a perfect size. The Bathroom had a massive shower, it was clean and well presented. The breakfast was included in our price and had plenty of choice and was freshly cooked. We dined for two evenings in the hotel, and the quality of food was top draw, the presentation was first class, and the service to table was second to none. We would highly recommend this hotel if you are planning on visiting Harrogate. There is a bus for the 3 1/2 mile into town.
Disliked: Nothing not to like, we would recommend this to anyone wishing to visit Harrogate and the surrounding areas.

Would definitely not book a...
Liked: The building was gorgeous and the restaurant looked like it was refurbished not long ago.
Disliked: The room was on second floor in what it looked like should have been a linen cupboard. It was advertised as a double room and was created in the very low eaves, I'm not a tall person and even I had to make sure I wouldn't hit my head against the ceiling beams. The bed was the smallest double bed, the plaster was falling off the walls both in the room and the bathroom and the room was filled with an awful musty smell that made us both cough to sleep. Could not wait to leave, especially after staying for few days in a different hotel near town centre which was in fact better quality and better price. Would definitely not book a room here again.
