Liked: Nicely furnished rooms, great tasting food, pleasant staff.
Disliked: I opted for a room overlooking the car park as its winter there wasn’t any point having a view overlooking the scene out the front. I was in the separate building across the car park where gas central heating still exists in the whole building. The building was freezing so I contacted reception only to be told the heating doesn’t come on until 17:00. So I got washed and dressed and over to the main bar asap. One of the staff went over and put an electric heater in my room to bring the temperature up. At some point during the night the heating is turned off and doesn’t come on again until approx 05:00. I can’t believe a hotel of this good standard still has GCH and the guest is ruled as to when they can have heat. The radiators have TRV’s fitted so can be turned down / off if required but I feel 17:00 is late for trying to start to heat the old building up. I appreciate energy bill prices etc but the management needs to take the guest into consideration too. I left the electric heater on all night as it was near 0 outside but I feel it’s not professional to supply electric heaters which could be a safety concern. TBH I can’t remember seeing a PAT sticker on the appliance.
