Cosy character pub with rooms...

Liked: The location in the heart of the old town. Warm and cosy atmosphere.
Disliked: The strength of the wifi in my room was too low to use a streaming service this time round, previously I've not found this an issue.

Maybe not this one

Liked: This hotel was well-placed for Warner Brother Studios which we were in the area to visit. The bed was comfortable and the room large enough. The breakfast was good and value for money. The bar and pub food were also good.
Disliked: Unfortunately the windows are very old and thin so we could hear car engines revving all night and people's exact conversations outside the window were overheard. So we had very broken sleep. Also if anyone came in or out of the building, you could hear that too. The heat in the room wasn't easy to work (not sure the heater was working at all tbf). The shower worked but it was a bit lukewarm. There were cobwebs/dust all over the bedroom and the decor was tired (see dusty curtains), plus the carpets looked ancient. Also regards parking - the local public parking is cheap if you can get into that one (it was packed when we tried to get in on Saturday night). You might not feel safe leaving your car on a public street, what with all the Boy racers and drunkards.

Ideal for our trip but...

Liked: The pub was in an ideal location for us as we went to Harry Potter studio, the bed was comfortable, the room was spacious and traditional. The staff were friendly and polite. It was good value for money when I booked a couple months ago.
Disliked: It was very noisy all night despite the pub closing at 12, first from the music which was bearable but we were in room 6 which overlooks the side alley and flats next to it so when this stopped we could hear people shouting outside for hours and motorbikes racing up and down the street. At around 4am drunken men were trying to get into our room mistaking it for their own 🤣 quite funny now but at the time it definitely wasn’t. To top it off from 7 all we could hear were the floorboards creaking non stop from the people in the room above walking around. I knew beforehand that a pub on a Saturday night wasn’t going to be the quietest stay but didn’t expect it to be that disruptive based upon the area. I’m usually all for a party on the weekend but we had a long day so were extremely tired but got little to no sleep as we were constantly being woken up. My boyfriend also spotted some cobwebs on the walls so these might need dusting more.
