Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

The hotel would be great...

Liked: Breakfast and location were good. Everything was very clean and comfortable
Disliked: My father actually stayed with you. I knew he would have to cope with one flight of stairs but I asked for an easily accessible room in view of his age. He had to pass through 3 (I think) heavy fire doors, passing other rooms in the way. At one point the passageway had 4 steps to climb, a short level bit, then 2 steps down. There were no handrails. Very dangerous for someone with mobility problems. Even worse, the lights in the corridor are motion sensitive. My father moves slowly. Without fail the lights went out when he was halfway down these steps. Other elderly guests were complaining about this. Worst of all, the en suite in his room was up 2 or 2 steps with no handrail, but some sort if tower style heater had been placed on one of the steps. This was wobbly and perfectly placed for someone unsteady to reach out to it for support. I moved it away from the steps.

Fantastic Staff but not the...

Liked: The Staff were very helpful and hospitable. I enjoyed everything about my stay with the exception of physical imoracticalities due to mobility issues. I found it very difficult to navigate my way around the hotel. I do appreciate that as it is in old building, scope to make any adaptations is very limited but unfortunately I would not be able to return as a staying guest purely due to the physical discomfort I experienced. I can not thank the staff enough for their help and assistance during my stay. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them and contributed to my stay being enjoyable.
Disliked: It does not not cater for disabled people's needs, i.e., no handrails on the stairs that you can grip hold of. The fire doors are heavy to open and difficult to maneuvere going through. The sign posting to Reception could be improved.

Freezing cold, no sleep, overpriced...

Liked: In good location and clean.
Disliked: The room we had was absolutely freezing cold, to the point I had to put my clothes back on over the top of my pajamas. My partner had to sleep fully clothed too. Neither of us usually feel the cold so this really showed us just how uncomfortable the temperature was. There was also a constant droning noise that didn’t stop. It was impossible to sleep or even feel comfortable in these conditions. I’ve reached out to the hotel twice and they’ve not replied.
