Ok for short stay.
Liked: Location was excellent. Staff polite and helpful.
Disliked: Breakfast was too expensive so we ate elsewhere. 1st room offered was not fit for use, wallpaper hanging off, unfinished paintwork over bed. Felt it was overpriced compared to 2 previous stays.

Lovely comfortable hotel. Considerable historic...
Liked: Nice hotel. Really comfortable bed. Great chef. Location for work and the station couldn't have been better. One or two problems listed below.
Disliked: I have rated the hotel "pleasant" which it was, and my answers to the individual questions give an impression that it was better than this. That was because the survey didn't ask a question about general decorative order. This was terrible. Paint was cracking off the woodwork, the carpets were worn right down and the paper was peeling off the ceiling in my bedroom. In short the place needs thorough renovation and needs it urgently because otherwise you will surely lose custom. I spoke with the staff who tell me the hotel has just changed hands and renovation is under way, room by room. To be fair my bathroom had recently been renovated and was in excellent condition. It's a Grade 1 listed building which makes renovation tedious and expensive and I should imagine you're looking at £2 million, maybe more.
