Great music, bar and restaurant.

Liked: Real Review: Frenchtown is a wonderful little town along the Delaware river. Cute shops, path's for bike riding and hiking, plenty of art related stuff, coffee shops, cafe's. A perfect little town for October leaf peeping. The hotel has a perfect location in he center of town, with a big front porch. The bar is one of the best "hot spots" in town. Its busy, friendly, and they make good drinks. Both nights that we were there, there was jazz in the bar. Both of the groups (bands) were EXCELLENT. A great choice of music. Dinner in the dining room was very good, if a bit "standard". The dinner and drink prices were good, the portions were good, and the preparation was good. The dining room and bar service were prompt. There is plenty of free parking around back. All in all, a very good social bar and dining experience.
Disliked: The hotel portion does not live up the standards of the bar and restaurant. The check in process is clumsy, and the credit card is charged the full amount up front while you stand in the middle of a dining room. There is no lobby or lounging area, as it is all restaurant and bar space. All of the guest rooms are up the central stair case. If the first impression of the hotel is the carpeting on the main stair case (very dirty, old, torn), its not a good one. Our room was very large, but the bathroom and closet were very small. There wound be plenty of space increase the size of the bathroom. The soap and shower gel were empty, the shower was very small, the ceiling was low, and there were no glasses or cups in the bathroom. The mirror was at chest level, small sink, no counter space. Bathroom experience-awful. There was also a very large industrial exhaust fan from the kitchen located just below our room. The room vibrated when it turned on and off. The price was very expensive. Perhaps its just supply and demand, and there are very few places to stay in the area. So you cant blame the hotel for trying to make a profit during a peak season weekend. But value for the money was not there.

A great place to stay...

Liked: This is an excellent, newly renovated and updated historic hotel in Frenchtown, NJ. The owner and her staff are very professional and attentive. The room was large, quiet and comfortable. The hotel bar has jazz performances on weekends and is a lively place for a fun drink. We plan to return when we are in the area again.
Disliked: We have no complaints.

Charming hotel in a great...

Liked: The room was clean and the location was great. The lady at the front (no desk) was very nice. The hotel is nice looking. I really liked the historic look of the lobby and first floor.
Disliked: The bathroom amenities were sparse. There was no lotion. The bathroom also really needed a shelf for us to put our toiletries. There was very little room on the sink for them. I have stayed in other hotels with smaller bathrooms that made much better use of the space. Our room did not appear to be serviced at all during our stay. I understand that changing the sheets will happen every few days rather than every day, but the bed wasn't made and things like changing the toilet paper roll and refilling tissues weren't done.We asked the lady up front to have the shampoo and body wash bottles refilled, because they were nearly empty. That they did. We also asked to have two burnt out bulbs replaced in the bathroom and that was *not* done. Given that the shower had a dark grey curtain, it made that area very dark since one of the bulbs was above it.

the event that I attended...

Liked: there was no staff most of the time, they took an unexpected pet deposit of $100.00, will it be returned? my pet did no damage and is clean
Disliked: uncomfortable beds, 3rd floor extremely hot, halls not air conditioned no amenities for the price, no coffee/ tea in the room, no refrigerator, minimal space, stairs to 3rd floor were hard for my elderly dog to climb

Overall very happy with our...

Liked: Excellent location. Room small but nice. Bed very comfortable.
Disliked: Didn’t bother us but I did not know there was not an elevator. I may have missed it in the description. We were ok with steps. Just fyi. No check in desk. Nobody at a front desk. Just a key box return.
