Nice stay at the Monterey

Liked: Really nice room. Good coffee. Great location.
Disliked: They turn off the room key cards at 10:30 am on checkout day, even though checkout isn't until 11am. It's a small PITA to deal with.

Lovely rooms in great location...

Liked: This is a classic motel near the old town which has been given a makeover and our room was nicely designed, immaculate and very comfortable insofar as bed etc was concerned. There were lots space and hooks which is something most motels don’t think about. There was a free washer and dryer (supply your own detergent) which was very welcome.
Disliked: It would have been good to have a microwave in the room as it was a bit tedious having to go to the ‘Buggs’ room to heat up food and a second chair (the room was very spacious so plenty of room) . However our main complaint was the lack of hot water which was a major issue. We stayed 3 nights and only got a very quick warm (not hot) shower one day when we got back at 2.30pm. Every other time of the day and night we tried there was no hot water. We were told that the hot water system in that block is old and can’t cope, but the management should invest in a new system as a priority. Also the showerhead attachment was faulty so it took ingenuity to balance it in the right position the one time we managed to get a warm shower. We reported it and the staff advised the maintenance team who clearly didn’t bother to visit. It’s such a shame about the hot water in particular as otherwise the motel was great and would have been a candidate for a 10.

Convenient location and comfortable room.

Liked: Clean room, very comfortable mattress and bedding. Friendly staff and nice to have a complimentary welcome drink in their lounge.
Disliked: Unusual bedside lighting - with no obvious way to turn the lights off.

Aussie Couple 1 night stay

Liked: Friendly staff, welcome drink, Momo lounge had nice vibes after a long day.
Disliked: Double bed made sleep a little snug for a couple used to a larger bed.

Superb

Liked: Location is great. Close to Old Town, restaurants, and Route 66. The room was spacious and quiet with minimal outside noise. Very comfortable bed.
Disliked: The bathroom floor was squeaky.
