On bucket list to stay...

Liked: Beautiful building, high quality interior, great staff
Disliked: Disappointing choices in restaurant. Expected more varitety. All a tad boring

We went away for my...

Liked: we loved our room and the whole hotel surroundings. All our meals in both restaurants were great
Disliked: The only thing was that the hotel is a bit in the middle of nowhere and there isn't anywhere else to go in the evenings without driving

An excellent hotel in fabulous...

Liked: Breakfast was fresh & plenty of Choice.Staff were very attentive & polite.Dinner in hotel was excellent & good value.
Disliked: Nothing. All good.

Superb

Beautiful, unique and (but) expensive.

Liked: Beautiful room, setting and garden. Wonderful breakfast.
Disliked: Very expensive. Shower not great. Wasn’t clear that cooked breakfast was extra.

Sadly underwhelming for the price...

Liked: Lovely location. Staff all excellent, professional and welcoming. Garden is lovely and I imagine it’s very impressive in spring/summer.
Disliked: Room was quite disappointing, small, dark and dated bathroom. Remote control and phone looked very dirty (small attention to detail things) Was surprised to hear we were able to use spa facilities at sister hotel, this was not made obvious when booking. Also if you want a cooked breakfast there is an extra charge. “Breakfast included” is cereals/ pastries/ fruits which isn’t quite good enough for the price paid (over £200) Would recommend booking a table at Monty’s if you plan on eating there. We did not and had to eat at the hotel. Same menu but not a great atmosphere. Food was ok but expensive in my opinion.Unfortunately we did not sleep well as the room was absolutely boiling hot, I think it may have been something to do with the room being next to the chimney/ fire lit downstairs at reception which we were over. Noticed room next door also had windows wide open (in February!)

Return visit lived up to...

Liked: A perfect location and a great bolt hole in the New Forest from which to rest, relax and explore. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make me feel at home and to meet my needs. Nothing was too much trouble. An unexpected room upgrade was the icing on the cake. Plenty of relaxation areas, complete with lovely log fires, good food and comfortable but not overly formal surroundings. This is my second stay and both have been enjoyable and memorable.
Disliked: Not much! Restaurant alcohol prices were perhaps a little steep but a more competitively-priced range of were available in the linked pub next door, which served the same food menu.
