Lovely old hotel, great food

Liked: Close to the motorway but in a beautiful village, and next to a canal - convenient but scenic. Old, and some slightly dated aspects to the room, but the bar and restaurant are great, and the food was excellent.
Disliked: A bit dated, but in general not much I didn't like

Liked: The staff serving breakfast were very pleasant.
Disliked: The room we were allocated was at a temperature of 27.5 Degrees Celsius when we opened the door, not ideal, it took a long time to cool down. When I told the Receptionist, she was not really helpful with this situation. At 2230hrs we were woken by guests in the room next door as their TV was at a ridiculous volume. I went down to Reception and dialled the night team number twice with no reply. I had to deal with the situation myself, knocking on the door of the other guest asking them to turn it down. We managed to get back to sleep until 0030hrs when guests in the room on the other side of us were talking very loudly on their way back to their room with no consideration for other guests. Finally at around 0600hrs a loud fan was put on, it would appear in the kitchen dining area which was near our room. As a result of these disturbances we had an appalling nights sleep. My husband and I said we would not stay at this hotel again. On checking out the Receptionist did not ask if we enjoyed our stay, interesting!
