A welcome shelter when the...

Liked: Conveniently close to John O’Groats. Spacious, well appointed room with “highland funky” decor.Home-style cooking for a tasty dinner and breakfast. Exceptional selection of whisky and tasteful choice of background music made for great ambiance in the dining room.
Disliked: Nitpicking here, but the bathroom floor was cold. Other than that, I can’t think of anything to fault the Mey Hotel.

This is an outstanding facility...

Liked: Both dinner and breakfast were outstanding. The three of us each tried different dishes, and were very happy with our choices. The landlord was very accommodating, offering changes to the menu so that we could try multiple dishes that we were interested in. It was wonderful to be able to relax, enjoy some wine and good food within a few feet of our room.

Wonderful hotel with excellent hosts!

Liked: The hotel has been beautifully renovated, and a great deal of care and thought has gone into the decor. Loved the touches in the room with the Highland Coo hotwater bottles and the temperature kettle! The bed was very comfortable and room a lovely temperature.Emma and Ewan were wonderful hosts and the food for both breakfast and dinner was fabulous. The bread and butter pudding was to die for... I was very sad it had run out by our second night!
Disliked: There wasn't anything we didn't like!

Authentic Highlands Experience and Hospitality

Liked: This was a very authentic/historic inn run by a very friendly couple who manage the lodgings, the bar, and the restaurant. We enjoy locations that compliment the surroundings/location, and this fit the bill completely. One of the key factors in our decision to stay here was that they provided dinner service for guests. Knowing that we would not have to go venturing far afield in search of nightly nourishment was a major factor. I look forward to the opportunity to return to The Mey Hotel for a future visit to the region.
