Liked: The location is great as it's near many attractions. The landlady is welcoming and friendly.The room was large and comfortable. Plenty of space for us and our dog who had his own courtyard all to himself!There were plenty of towels, tea and coffee facilties were good.Breakfast was really good.We also had a meal in the evening which was very nice. Staff were attentive. Good ambience in the pub.
Disliked: We had to wait some time for our evening meal as there were 9 of us, but the staff were most apologetic and gave us a discount off the bill.I would have liked a mirror in the bedroom as the only one was in the bathroom.The door to the courtyard didn't fit well so we had trouble closing it.

Liked: Landlady was very helpful, let us in to the room early and the dog friendly room was perfect, with access to a little fenced area directly from the room. Bathroom was clean and shower was powerful and plenty of hot water. Breakfast really tasty.

Liked: I didn't ask for a quiet room but ours was pretty good, anyway. The service was great, the room comfortable, and the breakfast very good indeed. We enjoyed being in a proper local pub. A rare find.The car park was full when we arrived and a member of staff cleared a space for us. No problem!

Lovely quaint pub with fabulous...

Liked: The Merrie Lion was a lovely little pub with delicious food. The room was clean and spacious and the beds were very comfortable with lovely linen. The bathroom was very nice and modern with a lovely shower. We had a very peaceful nights sleep. Breakfast in the morning was superb too. Would love to return again in the near future.
Disliked: Bathroom window should either be frosted or with a blind. Would have been nice to have vegan Margarine (Flora) with breakfast rather than butter. Everything else was perfect.
