Helpful friendly staff, clean comfortable...

Liked: Staff were very friendly and helpful both in the hotel and the bar/restaurant. Food and drinks selection was excellent. Clean comfortable room and bathroom.
Disliked: The only downside was not having windows that could be opened for ventilation.

Would return at any time

Liked: Great place, spacious and clean rooms, wonderful beddings and soft towels, snack and beverage machine. The restaurant opposite is a beautiful pub with gourmet cuisine. What I like most is that the hotel takes no prepayment, requires no credit card details in advance, and allows for cancellation at any time - where do you still have that? Many guests will be hiking in the nearby Pentland Hills, and this always depends on weather conditions; then it is great to have the flexibility to cancel (of course, guests should also be polite enough to do so).
Disliked: The price for B&B of £120 is rather steep, £90 would be more appropriate, but post-pandemic prices in the UK have gone up everywhere. I also wished that the windows for breakfast (8-10am) and dinner (orders only until 8.45pm) would be extended.
