Exceptional

Liked: An iconic hotel that lives up to its reputation. Stayed in a garden suite which was spacious, light & airy with good facilities. The restaurant has a pub feel, & was pretty full & lively. The food was outstanding ( the best we have had in 5 weeks in New Zealand & we have eaten at some special places). We made a detour on our trip to stay here & it was well worth it.
Disliked: Only 2 minor irritations- extractor fan in bathroom was noisy in high wind, & nowhere to hang things in the bathroom

Stayed for a wedding anniversary...

Liked: Lovely location with the old world charm and great restaurant
Disliked: The hotel area accommodation is very noisy being so close to the town square pubs etc . The hotel rooms have no air conditioners and are very hot We moved to the garden rooms which were quieter ,with aircon and no noise
