Sad occasion made comfortable

Liked: Comfortable bed. Lovely shower. Room had a wonderful view of the quayside. Enjoyed a lovely dinner in the restaurant. Staying there helped make a sad family occasion more bearable.

Nice enough for a night

Liked: This hotel was easily accessible from the motorway and central. Plenty of parking nearby and excellent view from the rooms. Continental breakfast was provided and had good choices of food. Has a restaurant in the hotel which served really nice food and a good price for the ratio quality/quantity. Staff were really nice and pleasant.
Disliked: The rooms and corridors did feel tired and could do with a bit of paint and brightening up. It felt very dark and sad. The stairs to go up to the rooms felt grubby and sticky. There were chairs dumped in the middle of the way and it just felt a bit messy generally and not very welcoming. Shower had no pressure so it was difficult to wash properly. Toilet made a lot of noise when flushing. The rooms have single glazing which meant that until the bar closed at 1.30am, it was really noisy with people laughing and talking under the windows. Breakfast is only served between 9am and 10am which is quite late when wanting to go and visit things and get going early. Be aware that to get to the rooms it’s up quite a few steps so not suitable for disabled or elderly people.

Liked: Restaurant was fantastic. Local produce cooked very well. Vast array of craft beers. Great view from room over harbour.
Disliked: Previous guests toiletries hadn’t been removed from room! Spider nest behind wardrobe, had to block hole with toilet paper. Lots of steep stairs to top floor (no lift). Breakfast is only served between 9 & 10 therefore we missed our breakfast as we had to be on the road for 8 am!
