Chris K, Liverpool, visiting Norwich Arts Centre Mon, 8 May 2017

We went to an event at the Norwich Arts Centre and I originally booked this hotel due to its proximity to the Arts Centre. What a stroke of luck - our room was overlooking the cathedral; nice and spacious; great bed! We went into the bar and grabbed a quick bite to eat - loved the bar and the food was great; all the staff were very helpful and friendly; can't recommend this hotel enough. Thank you for a great stay.

Liked: Fabulous room with a great view.

Disappointing

Liked: The reception was a lovely entrance, and the front desk staff were warming. The room was a very warm and beautiful room on first impression. Staff were mostly lovely.Comfortable bed and good pillows good shower with nice hot water.
Disliked: The room room in some areas was a bit tired. The room was also a lot cooler when we went back to it in the evening. I called reception and asked for it to be increased, and 30 mins later, it was still not any hotter. I had to ask again, but they did bring a portable heater eventually. The vegetarian menu was dreadful in the restaurant in the evening. Finding it was a buffet breakfast being served was not what you'd expect at a 4-star hotel... This I would expect at a travelodge. The staff were not very good or helpful. I am vegetarian, and the lady told me the sausages were vegetarian, so I picked one up and then found that they were not, lucky, before I ate it. After picking our food up, we were then asked if we wanted fresh fried eggs. We already had some eggs on our plates by then. The next badly organised breakfast issue, we only found out there was a breakfast menu at the table that we weren't even offered, and we were only told at checkout. That member of staff also said as we were late, which was 09.10, and the breakfast stopped at 09.30. I really felt that was rather rude. A while later, the lady apologised and didn't charge for my americano. Sadly, I didn't think of photos

Helpful staff and good location.

Liked: Historic hotel with good location and kind, helpful staff. Comfortable bed. There was a problem with a noisy Christmas party above, but they gave us the last other remaining room which was better. They impressed me by since improving how they inform guests about upcoming events / potential disturbance.
Disliked: I felt it's too expensive. There were two Christmas parties, one directly above our room, which we hadn't been properly warned about. Fortunately the helpful staff moved us to another room, although I'm glad we had earplugs because of noise from the road.

Very comfy, great location -...

Liked: The 11am checkout - good to have a lie in and not panic about leaving at 10am! Comfy room, loved the shower, bed was nice and TV in good location.
Disliked: That when you turn on the TV it shows apps like Netflix etc., but as it isn’t connected to the internet you can actually only get satellite channels which was disappointing. You do get an iPad in the room but that’s only to show what the hotel offers and web browsing, which I didn’t use.

We have stayed on previous...

Liked: Nice comfortable bed. Very quiet room. Was clean.
Disliked: Breakfast was disappointing. Hot food could have done with replacing more often had to ask for fried eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes. Sausages were tasty.Could not find tongs for the bread and noticed flys landing on it so a cover over the bread would be an idea.
