Pleasant and private.
Liked: Spacious room, old style toilet. Lady on reception friendly but could not recommend which curry house was the better one. The notes everywhere round the room on windows, doors, light switches etc were useful. WiFi good.
Disliked: No sign at the front drove past it 3 times, had to go by the number on the address. Bed was rather lumpy and duvet thin. Toilet too low, stairs uneven and hand rails on stairs loose and moved. I have had a knee replacement and i felt unsafe on the stairs as they were so worn and rickety. Although the notes were useful made you feel like a naughty school child if you did not want to obey them. Would have been better to have seen someone to tell us. We were left well alone. Didn't have to see anyone to drop the key at reception. Not worth the money we paid. Would be cheaper at a travelodge and looked after better. Will not go again.

Home from home, such lovely,...
Liked: Great location right in the centre of town. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The bar stocks an extensive range of bar snacks, lagers, ales, ciders, wines and spirits, championing local producers which is excellent to see small businesses being supported. The building is very sympathetically decorated in keeping with the period it was built, which is fabulous as it has significant local community historical ties. The rooms are large, immaculately clean, great facilities for tea and coffee with a complimentary breakfast basket which is a thoughtful touch. The bed is large and very comfortable and the added extras in the room blanket, fan, make for a very pleasant stay.
Disliked: Be mindful there is no lift in the building so access to the rooms (on first and second floor) is by stairs only. If you are booking this hotel and have mobility issus request a first floor room as stairs to second floor are narrow.
