The owners of this hotel...
Disliked: I was travelling with my young children last minute. I booked and 10 hours after booking the met office issued a rare, red, danger to life travel warning across the area. I called the owner and he said if booking.com were willing to offer a cancellation then he would assist. I called booking.com who were very helpful and agreed circumstances were beyond my control and offered a cancellation. After all that, they refused to cancel the room and charged me the full amount. Notwithstanding the fact we were told absolutely not to travel by the met office - I have also only just booked the room - for that evening! Paul was unbelievably unhelpful, lied telling me he would offer a cancellation and then reneged on it.

My stay at the Llanelwedd...
Liked: Didnt have breakfast
Disliked: Interaction IssuesBar Staff Response to Allergy Inquiry:The bar staff member’s initial response to the allergy question was casual and speculative ("I don’t think it does").It required pressing from the guest to ensure the meal was safe, which caused unnecessary concern for someone with severe allergies.Unexpected Charge for Rice:Rice was brought with the meal, but the guest was not informed that it would incur an additional charge. There was no menu indication or verbal communication regarding this charge, leaving the guest feeling misled.Lighting in the Restroom:The restroom lights turned off while the guest was inside the cubicle, leaving them in the dark. The issue stemmed from the sensor being located outside the cubicle, which is a design flaw. This could pose a serious problem for individuals with mobility issues, elderly guests, or those with impaired vision.Response of the Gentleman in Charge:The gentleman’s response to the lighting issue was dismissive ("yeh well, it’s a small room").He suggested an impractical and inappropriate solution ("open the door and wave your hand about"), which the guest found unreasonable. When the guest raised further concerns, he appeared to avoid engagement by walking off multiple times. His attitude came across as rude, dismissive, and unprofessional, especially when addressing a legitimate safety issue. He minimized the issue by stating, "you’re the first person to complain about that in 10 years," which invalidates the guest’s concerns.General IssuesCustomer Service Standards:The interactions described reflect poor customer service, with staff not adequately addressing or resolving concerns. There is a lack of proactive effort to ensure clarity or safety, particularly for guests with specific needs or concerns.
