It was ok but musieading...

Liked: The house keeper at the chequers was really helpful. No facilities for bikes tho they knew we were cyclotouring.. housekeeper understood and resolved the issue.
Disliked: No notice on booking.com that you will be staying a distance from the pub in the chequers inn.. which meant we had to adapt/ change our plans for Byrd watching sadly . Each meal evening and breakfast they forgot about us and there were long delays for our main and our breakfast which was a shame as the food was good.

Beautiful venue but too busy....

Liked: Beautiful location and lovely building. Rooms in the hotel are comfortable and well appointed. Attentive staff
Disliked: Booking system needs sorting. Incorrectly assigned to sister hotel and put in tiny room when corrected. We appreciated the effort to be found correct room for the rest of the stay. Food was no better than ok

Disaster averted but disappointed with...

Liked: Food, service and cleanliness very good as was decor and room accessories with en suite.
Disliked: Arrived in the teeth of a storm to be directed to Chequers half a mile away. No prior warning from booking.com and we had already booked breakfasts and evening meals. Informed all meals served at lifeboat therefore half mile walk along narrow unlit road in evening or drive and forego alcohol. As it was a wedding anniversary trip and the weather was inclement we were upset and asked to see manager. After some work on the computer he arranged for us to have a nice room at lifeboat but it was ground floor at back of hotel and we had no view and were unable to see through frosted glass window.Staff explained that this often happened with booking.com guests who were located in chequers with no warning and was an issue they were pursuing with booking.com.

A lovely minibreak!

Liked: Our room was at The Chequers and breakfast at The Lifeboat Inn .Both were excellent. Our room was tastefully decorated and ,although small , you did not feel claustrophobic. Fresh milk , lovely toiletries and slept well . Lovely breakfast with great choice of menu ! Will be returning! Staff are very cheerful and helpful .
Disliked: Nothing !
