All Style, No Substance
Liked: Rooms were well stocked with complimentary water, tea, coffee. Paid options in minibar. Smart toilet and Rainfall shower were a plus. Bed was comfortable.
Disliked: I chose this hotel for its proximity to the National Maternity Hospital and my needs. The room was incredibly small for a double room and for the price. I had mentioned in my comments at the time of booking that I am 9 months pregnant and I was disappointed that I had not much room to manoeuvre. I have no problem with a compact room, especially when it is what I paid for but given the price it was very disappointing.I had also booked to pay at property and yet payment was taken before stay. There was also an additional €100 deposit needed before stay, which given the 'boutique' nature of the hotel, was a far reach and quite frankly, extortionate on top of the already very expensive price. It is very difficult to find information on parking at this hotel and the associated carpark is a ten minute walk away - again not ideal, especially for any women in my situation. No pricing on anything in the mini bar. No information pack mentioning pricing or what items are part of the mini bar - there were a number of items in the room that were outside of mini bar and it was unclear if they were complimentary or charged. I got the impression that the property wants to give an aura of "if you have to ask, you can't afford it".I also enquired at reception about late check out and was told to call back in the morning despite being told there was availability for late check out.In my opinion, given the pricing of this hotel it was a disappointing stay. I wasn't looking for perfection but the overall impression I got was that the property was all about up selling the guest and that they weren't too concerned with guest comfort or experience. The addition of things like a smart toilet and Dyson hairdryer, whilst nice, just reinforce my opinion that the property cares about giving a luxury impression, whilst not too concerned about providing the guest with a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
