Comfortable, friendly and quirky

Liked: Gorgeous little hotel over a pub / restaurant. Quite a quirky building with lots of old beams and features, lovely sized room and bathroom. Comfortable beds and not too loud given that you are right over a pub. All the staff were lovely and really approachable and the food was amazing if a little on the large portioned side. Only a £7-8 journey to the Harry Potter Studio if you don't drive and around £10 to / from Watford Junction Station (do not use one of the station taxis, they overcharge - google a local firm).
Disliked: I personally didn't have issues with anything but something to note - it is an old building and if you are tall you will need to duck through doorways.

Great location but wouldn't recommend...

Liked: The location was great for ease/ proximity to major roads for travelling, we were only here for a weekend so this really helped make our commute much simpler. Also great proximity and ease of travel to the Harry Potter Tour, which was the reason for our stay here. The room was dated and basic but the shower was hot, and the pillows comfortable, which was the main thing as we only required a base for our weekend plans.
Disliked: The room was directly over the entrance which is used as a smoking area, as a non smoker we couldn't have the windows open without the awful smell of ash and smoking. The windows remained shut! The car park was difficult to enter and exit particularly when you meet other cars. The food was terrible, which was majorly disappointing. I wasn't expecting Michelin but I couldn't stomach most of it, I was served what appeared to be brown panchetta (definitely past its best) which i removed from my plate, even simple foods (chips) all I could taste was oil.
