Practical and comfortable

Liked: Host was helpful organising how to get key to me when the restaurant had closed early and so I couldn’t check in in the usual way. Breakfast very good.
Disliked: Right on the side of the main road - so excellent for getting to but very loud when HGVs started coming past early in the morning. Room had no soundproofing at all. Room also felt damp when I arrived, but I put the heater on for a bit and then it was fine.

Annoyed

Liked: We arrived at @5pm and were informed that the bar and restaurant was closed as there was a Staff Christmas Party on that evening. We decided to eat out at a really nice Indian Restaurant (Maria's - can highly recommend). We returned to our room @8.30pm to get cosy in front of the TV and chill.Unfortunately, we were awoken at 11.45hrs by someone (who was a member of Staff at the party) knocking very loudly on our door. I answered the door to be faced by a drunk individual, who was smoking a cigarette (inside the building) who just looked at me and walked away!! For the next 45 minutes we were kept awake by the exit door banging. I dressed and went to the bar, where there were 2 x male individuals (one being the individual who knocked on our door). I asked them to please be quiet as we were trying to sleep, to which the drunken individual replied "well go to sleep then!!". I spoke with the other individual and asked him to please be quiet and probably would be a good idea to take the other guy home. I reported this incident to the young lady who served breakfast and asked her to inform the Manager when she came in.The hotel is in a lovely location, the room was vert well presented and the breakfast was simply great. A real shame that one idiot member of Staff acted in the way he did to spoil our stay (and this review!!).
