Overall loved our stay! We...
Liked: Fantastic location right in the centre with lovely furnishings in a beautiful old building! We loved the breakfast, hand written notes and included snacks. Also a lovely wine shop and wine bar on the bottom floor! The staff were also super helpful and lovely.
Disliked: We loved our stay here! A small thing: would be amazing to have access to “proper coffee” in the mornings.

I give it a four...
Liked: I loved how it was so close to everything! A boutique hotel with creative decorative accents! The staff great and so helpful!
Disliked: There were throw carpets on top of the carpet in the bedroom area. The bedspread and curtains were heavily draped. I just was a little concerned, wondering if there were bedbugs. I did have a few bites on my arm, but not totally sure if they were acquired some other way??

Fantastic accommodation. Highly recommended.
Liked: Fantastic accommodation with beautifully appointed rooms, complimentary snacks and drinks, and warm croissants and coffee in the mornings. Excellent location to Cuba Street. We always choose to stay here when in Wellington.

Good
Liked: Minimal staff (it is a small hotel), I only had contact with 3 members of staff, Ria was at reception most of my stay and was a charming and helpful young woman. The shower in my room was broken, and I mentioned it to Ria the next morning and she had it fixed. The rooms were quiet - no sounds at all from other guests, and in my opinion an added bonus was that the windows opened. The bedding was quality and the bed and pillows comfortable. The free croissants and coffee in the lobby every morning was a good selling point (see below). Generally, I thought the decor well thought out, although the dark paint in the corridor was oppressive and showed scuff marks very easily. My bedroom had classy ethnic rugs, which was a lovely feature. TV was wonderful and completely interactive with my phone - once I'd learnt how to drive the remote.
Disliked: Decor is a bit self conscious industrial shabby chic with an unfinished feature wall in my room which one of my visitors thought wonderful, and I just felt it unfinished - so a matter of taste. Also the configuration of the bathroom was odd - the toilet and basin in a separated room to the shower and another basin. If they'd combined it, they could have had a luxy bathroom with a spa bath in - surely an added value feature? I suspect the reason for this was that the separating wall was a structural necessity. My daughter said it was what the younger generation wanted?!!!Another negative was that they don't put a kettle in your room, hot water is available in the corridor not far away, which means you have to be marginally respectable to get a cup of tea in the morning. The free filter coffee was disappointing. Again the morning pastries and coffee had to be taken up to one's room from the lobby although a flask of coffee did appear next the hot water dispenser on my floor next the lift, again of a disappointing quality. The whole business of not making hot drinks - particularly tea and coffee - in room I do understand as potentially it can case a lot of expensive damage to carpets and furniture. But I think with the high prices they are charging it is an acceptable risk. I don't know if the managers of the hotel will read this, but there are some very good coffee companies in NZ who produce individually wrapped real coffee portions (Tuatara Coffee is one) and also there are some efficient and good small coffee makers on the market.
