Great Hotel

Good
Liked: The area of town is not the best place to be period. The hotel itself is a gem within the din. Blocks away from the train station makes it a perfect stop over. Small Mom and pops breakfast restaurants line the main street back to the train station. A tad bit pricey for the area of town but well within for what it offers you.I did not participate with its offerings but with 3 eateries and a speak easy bar in the basement... Unlike myself, stay a few days and you won't have to leave the building to enjoy yourself.
Disliked: The only drawback to this hotel is its location in the current state of Portland Oregon. Otherwise, you are in "Old Town" Portland with all its history and grandeur.

Tiny bathrooms and misleading booking
Liked: The hotel itself is really nice!
Disliked: The room was poorly set up and I knocked my knee on the bench at the end of the bed. The bathroom has no area to place anything. I am not pleased that I got a queen when I booked a king- still really floored you charge the same price for both and don't alert people when longs are sold out.

Book somewhere else!
Liked: Friendly staff. Common spaces were nicely decorated, felt cozy.
Disliked: I’ll be asking for money back. This is supposedly a 4 star hotel but I had a one star experience. The staff was friendly and allowed me to change rooms when the first room I was put in had a shade that wasn’t big enough for the window, so not only did I not have privacy but I also couldn’t block out lights from the street. The second room had a broken mini split, where it made a lot of gurgling and clicking noises and the vent flap (deflector) was broken so it didn’t oscillate or open and close. Then the cold water faucet handle literally fell out of the wall when I was trying to turn on the bathroom sink. Finally, the valet company associated with the hotel is a scam. They send you a link with a clock to track how long you’ve been parked and even though the sign says 8-24 hours $55, they tack on fees if you don’t get the car by noon, even if you’ve been parked for only 14 hours. Bonus: stink bug found on my bed after I woke up.

Great hotel. Lack of Amenities...
Liked: The hotel is nice & clean. The staff were kind and suggested things to do within walking distance. The decor of the rooms were nice.
Disliked: The price was a little off due to how small the rooms were. My room was upgraded via Booking.com from the "Shoebox", I couldn't imagine how small it would've been. For one person, the SNUG room type is fine. It would've been tight traveling with 2 people in that room. No fitness room/gym.The reviews are accurate in regards to NOISE. Being familiar with NYC noise, I thought this wouldn't bother me. The noise at this hotel was different. There are music venues, lounges, clubs, and bars nearby so a lot of foot traffic and people hanging out on the streets. The area isn't the greatest at night were there's a great number of homeless people on drugs. At 4AM people were in the middle of the street screaming. I ended up having to use earplugs to get some sleep. There's not much the hotel can do about this. Maybe request not being near street level or first 1-3 floors.Lastly, they highlight on their website (and even upon check-in) that there is a cafe at the front of the hotel & a bar downstairs. Not once during my stay was either open. That was disappointing. With this said, the pricing per night should be lower.
