We enjoyed our stay, very...
Liked: We loved the period charm and the very comfortable room. We came down from the country for a show, and it was close to the venue, an easy walk. Excellent breakfast and attentive staff.
Disliked: Nothing really.

Promised but did not delivour...
Liked: Lovely old Victorian building.
Disliked: Wi-Fi didn’t work on arrival, but they installed a router which was great. Offered selection of pillows but they never turned up when ordered. Dinner was missing the promised salad and the staircase had obvious water damage that had not been restored. Paint peeling on the walls and our room looked onto another wall that was badly in need of plaster repair and painting. Empty bottle of Prosecco and dirty glasses in reception when we arrived and left. Staff not trained to deliver the promised experience.

Very good
Liked: Room was spacious and well appointed
Disliked: Breakfast was a big disappointment. Won't be using it again. Expensive for what it is. Confusing choices and very much an either-or mentality in the staff. Basic breads and juice should be available as self-serve option. Having to add each coffee to the bill. Cooked breakfast for me, pastries for my wife, juice and coffee at nearly $100. Not good enough

Lost its soul won't be...
Liked: The room was a good size the bed was relatively comfortable they offer a pillow service. Bathroom amenities were ok. It was close to the theatre which was the main reason for choosing the hotel.
Disliked: The hotel has lost its soul the foyer area is ok but the chairs are pretty shabby. The lift is old and whilst i appreciate that maybe the hotel is trying to keep its "heritage" look its failing it just looks tired. The climate control option in the rooms is a switch low, medium, high this doesn't cut it, first night i felt it turned off when i turned the switch, second night i don't think it did but i forgot to mention to the desk when i checked out as i just wanted to leave. I won't be staying here again.

Handy location
Liked: Location is perfect for attending shows at the Princess Theatre- 2 min walk. The Cricketers bar next door is a bonus with great food and nice atmosphere. The room was comfortable and clean. Lots of great choices for eating in the area - easy to walk to everything.
Disliked: The floor in the room was extremely squeaky throughout the room. The hot water in the old shower above the bath took forever to come through - I really thought it was broken and was ready to report it. We were told our room was cleaned and just needed an inspection and they would ring to let us know it was ready in no more than an hour - after filling in 2 1/2 hours we went back in to see what was going on and they had forgotten to ring. Wasted a lot of our time. This happened the last time we checked in here too .
