Disappointing

Very good

Comfortable for a short stay...

Liked: Great central location in market town with everything you need right outside the front doors. Atmospheric old coaching Inn/Hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food both in the evenings and for breakfast was freshly made with skill and good ingredients. Room was comfortable and clean, if smallish and quite basic. TV could not hold a signal. Looks like inward investment is happening with some areas mid-decoration.
Disliked: Parking in tiny courtyard car park is challenging and despite info stating 'eleven spaces' good luck getting more than six or seven cars in that area. (And good luck getting your vehicle back out again if the last one in doesn't park sensitively)Communal areas like dining rooms, bars, main hallways and stairs are very tired. Some of the carpets look like they were still from when Cromwell stayed there around the civil war times... Not sure I have ever walked along creakier floors in my life - but at least you can tell where everyone is in the hotel!

Looks beautiful but very run...

Liked: The building is beautiful from the outside and the location is central. And the shower was good, which is always important, but that is really all that I can think of as positives.
Disliked: This is a very run down hotel and it is obvious everywhere. The room I got was extremely noisy with what sounds like thunder late at night and early in the morning. The breakfast was very poor and wifi nonexistent - which is a problem when you travel for work.

Disliked: The bed was a cheap spring mattress, we both woke up with back ache.Breakfast (we had Full English) was mediocre.
