Exceptional

Perfect country break.

Liked: Easy to find in a small village. Easy check-in. Immediately relaxed with wood stoves burning. The room was warm, clean & had all facilities needed for our 2 night stay. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was freshly prepared with a good range of choice ( recommend the scrambled eggs. I ‘ve never had eggs so light) The evening meal was very good and filling.

Liked: A very friendly and welcoming pub. Lovely comfortable rooms with everything that you would require for an overnight stay. Happy hour went down well too. Delicious breakfasts with plenty to choose from. We will be back!
Disliked: Maybe a bit more choice on the food menu

Liked: Comfortable bed. Lovely room. Staff very friendly. Great food
Disliked: Surcharge added to evening meal without being asked

Liked: Great country pub with delightful rooms. Super clean and excellent bathroom. Log fires and nice cocktail menu.
Disliked: Food has gone downhill since we last stayed a year ago. Serve was poor and VERY slow. Spoiled our evening and we won’t be staying again. Shame… as it’s such a nice place.

An Absolute Gem

Liked: Rooms and food were excellent. Staff very helpful and knowledgable about surrounding area.
Disliked: Staff are all very helpful and polite but more needed to achieve a higher level of timely service. Dogs are allowed in breakfast and restaurant which imo lets this otherwise superb venue down.

Lovely spot to stay

Liked: The room was great.
Disliked: A steak costing just shy of £40 shouldn’t require you to have to order an extra helping of chips.

Characterful pubs serving excellent food,...

Liked: Lovely pub/hotel. The pub has heaps of character with 3 open fires and beams galore. The staff were very Grundy and helpful. We ate at the 2 AA rosette restaurant in the pub both nights and the food was of a very high standard, even though my chocolate fondant came out with a solid centre twice. Only a small thing and did not spoil our overall impression.
Disliked: Very little to dislike. A couple of gooey centered chocolate fondants short of 10/10.
