Exceptional

Great to be back again.

Liked: Lovely welcome from staff as ever. We've stayed 4 or 5 times before. Comfy, cosy room. Great shower. Super choice at breakfast time.
Disliked: Needs a little maintenance on the window sashes which were broken on both windows. Now offering a drop in breakfast, which resulted in a very busy morning on the last day of our 5 night stay, good for business, but little choice of where to sit for us, not ideal eating cooked breakfast on a low settee, but we managed. Suggest maybe could have a nominated time/reserved table for residents in the dining room.

Very poor value for money.

Liked: The staff were very accommodating & friendly. The windows were rotting, the paint work cracked, the toilet seat didn’t fit the toilet, the bathroom door latch didn’t work so there was no privacy, the toilet roll holder broke, the wardrobe consisted of metal hangers on 3 pegs on the wall, there was only 1 chair for a deluxe room & nowhere else to sit & the hairdryer only blew out cold air! This was a very, very expensive deluxe double room that was sub standard. It wasn’t worth the money.

Great place to stay for...

Liked: Great location. Parking available. Close to town. Room very comfortable. Staff were fantastic.

Exceptional

Liked: Hotel is run by a charity that employs apprentices - so staff are all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great in the morning, rooms are clean and well kept. Great for train enthusiasts with the station across the road and the theme running throughout the hotel. Good location with parking, water pressure in our room was great.
Disliked: It's a shame the restaurant isn't open in the evening but it's a short walk into town and restaurant facilities are available to use if you order in.

Liked: A genuine welcome from every member of staff. A simple an honest hotel in a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location.
Disliked: No double glazing. Good WiFi.

Comfortable, good value hotel retaining...

Liked: Brilliant location just opposite the station entrance. The hotel maintains the character of its glory days as a Great Western Railway hotel. Sensitively renovated the room was comfortable and airy with an impressive large bathroom. Very good breakfast provided by young apprentices. Very capable and friendly staff..
Disliked: Nothing for my taste. It might not suit those who want fully modernised luxury but the comfortable, sensible, practical style and good value appealed greatly to me.
