This charming Grade II Listed building is located 5 minutes from the M4. It is thought to have been a gift from Queen Elizabeth I to the Earl of Leicester. Dating from the 16th century The Great House Hotel retains flagstone floors open fireplaces and traditional oak beams. More modern features include free Wi-fi and a flat-screen TV in each bedroom. Guests can dine in the hotel's restaurant. A variety of dishes are served to a 2 AA Rosette standard. Leicester's Restaurant serves innovative dishes produced from locally sourced ingredients. Liked: Lovely room, huge with sofa and chairs. Restaurant was closed on Sunday when we stayed but breakfast was good. Dog welcoming, staff pleasant.

Superb

Liked: The hotel has plenty of parking. The room was clean with a double bed and modern bathroom with a walk-in shower . The staff are friendly and efficient. We eat in the restaurant. The menu is small but I had a steam and this was excellent. The bar served some cocktails, and I had an old-fashioned whisky, which was very nice. Breakfast was amazing. Coffee and tea served in pots. I had smoked salmon and scrambled egg. There is a pub next door. It looks a bit run down. However, once inside, it had a cast atmosphere, a good selection of beers, and is used by locals.
Disliked: The room could have been slightly bigger.More bitters served at the bar.
