The Great House Hotel, Bridgend

Was a last minute decision....

Liked: Breakfast was hot and nice plenty of selections ,sausage could have been better.we had meal in resturant that was lovely taster menu. Could of been icecreme with tartlet as was bit to full up to eat it on own perhaps lighter afters.
Disliked: Had to move room couple of times first room only had shower we asked for bath 2nd room heating didnt work and had leaking pipe last room was better . B

Lovely stay, beautiful food, homely...

Liked: Friendly comforting environment. Room was spacious and clean also comfortable. staff were lovely and food was superb.
Disliked: water in shower and bath too cold. Took a while to warm up but even at warm it wasn’t warm enough. The warm bath tap dripped the water out. Also radiator leaking.

Dark, shabby room

Liked: The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed nice cooked breakfasts
Disliked: The room is possibly the worst one we have ever stayed in. There was very little lighting, a mirrored ceiling with star effect twinkling lights & the walls were black & gold resulting in a very dark room. There were no instructions for any of the appliances & we couldn’t get the TV to show live tv. We asked at reception but were told that it had been broken for a while. The waste pipes from the other rooms nearby seemed to centre on our room so we were continuously woken up through the flushing of toilets, running water etc. The room was very dirty and dusty. The water was not hot so showering was unpleasant. Some of the things the room was advertised to have been there were not, for example, pants press, telephone, alarm clock, carpeted. What is most annoying is that looking back at reviews from 2023 the same things were being said & it seems that nothing has been done about it. We should have checked the reviews before we booked it however I think that our room was the worst & to be avoided at all costs – Room Lleft.

Lovely place with Great atmosphere...

Liked: Great Location.Very cozy vibe and atmosphere.Breakfast was very good quality and value.Staff were great. We will stay there again.
Disliked: Mattress on the double bed was Very Soft. We did mention this at checkout.

Pleasant stay.

Liked: Great location. Lovely atmosphere in the evening. Great drinks and evening staff were very welcoming. Beautiful decor in the lounge area.
Disliked: Room not as advertised on the website very outdated and worn. However was clean. Check in/out area next to bar and lounge where people are eating made it uncomfortable to bring up any questions while customers are dinning. (So didn't)
