Not welcoming to families in...

Liked: Location and room were good.
Disliked: Restaurant has gone downhill. Health club members rude and unpleasant to hotel guests. Clearly they don’t like children in the pool. We were made to feel so uncomfortable on many occasions. Some of the people were horrible to the children. Intimidating them when using the pool showers.

Liked: Always amazing, the best hotel in the area, friendly welcoming staff, fantastic location, one of my favourite places in the world

Excellent large old-fashioned hotel, great...

Liked: We had an excellent overnight stay for a wedding in cold January. We made use of the lovely indoor pool / spa area - so good. Our room was huge and comfy - we loved the high ceilings and the wide corridors too. I'm the evening, there was great musical entertainment in one of the halls near the bar and we enjoyed that. Bar prices were quite standard. Breakfast was also amazing. Lots of choice and excellent service from well-trained helpful staff. We have booked a big anniversary weekend in May, for my parents and my siblings, as a result of this one night visit.
Disliked: Parking can be a little difficult but it is possible to reserve a space (for £25). It's a little expensive but guarantees less hassle.

Bad

Liked: Property is not bad but too old
Disliked: When I did booked at the hotel via the booking company showed me price included with breakfast but in the final confirmation there was no mention of paid breakfast, I showed this to the reception at this hotel and several times sent messages with screenshots of the initial booking to the boxe com company where the price of the room was indicated which included a fabulous breakfast but we had to pay extra for breakfast and it was extremely unpleasant when you buy what you want and get something completely different and they look at you at the reception like you verry funny

Lovely hotel, good service but...

Liked: Breakfast was very good and great location
Disliked: I felt that the non alcoholic options in the bar were extremely disappointing. As a non drinker I felt the selection really let the hotel down considering it is a 5 star establishment. The cocktails were just fruit juices with a soft drink added. The only non alcoholic gin was the seed lip which I feel is pretty tasteless and one of the first AF gins available but there are so many others out there like tanqueray or Gordon’s which are far superior. A non alcoholic Prosecco by the glass would be a nice option or a non alcoholic aperol spritz or even a crodino which is similar! You to educate yourselves as to what is available and what people like as there are so many people now choosing not to drink alcohol but who want more than just a soft drink! I chatted to the bar staff who agreed and said a lot of people ask for more options! For me somewhere that offers a good range of non alcoholic options makes all the difference to my enjoyment! I really feel that an establishment such as yourself has no excuses not to up your game! This is the reason I gave my overall rating a 3 - everything else was lovely!

Fabulous night away enjoying the...

Liked: all the staff were faultless. Lovely mid week stay, meant it was fairly quiet. Made full use of the lovely spa facilities. Evening meal was fabulous in Mirabelle restaurant.
Disliked: Slightly dated, but kind of expected that in a hotel of this age. Still has that sparkle though and so clean. Charger cable for phone didn't work in 2 sockets and minor marks on the carpets. But to us that is so inconsequential it is hardly worth mentioning.In restaurant seated near to big bay window and my husband was in alcove of it. He did feel a bit of a draft but once curtains got pulled around it much improved. Lovely meal.
