Liked: This is a historical building in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Central London. Heavy decor and vintage aura, which I am a big fan of, it is a rather small hotel with a vibe from another era. The bed was very clean and nicely made, the room was well equipped and the view was beautiful. The bar downstairs is cozy and welcoming, but stood out particularly because of all the "hiding" corners and the speakeasy vibes as well as the welcoming people behind it, particularly Marvin with whom I had the pleasure to converse. The girl with the green scarf at the checkout was very nice and patient explained everything in great detail.
Disliked: Although plenty aspects of this stay where above satisfactory, the remarks I could extend would be as follow:when I came in, I was not greeted or acknowledged, and stood by the reception as both staff members where behind counter one talking to 2 guests and the other staff member on some paperwork. Check in was quick and I took my suitcase upstairs myself (I was asked on my way whether I needed help). The room: there where dents on the floor, significant stains on lamp shades and the glass of the shower needed a change. Besides that I do not mind the occasional signs of a lived in space, as I would expect this from a hotel with so much history and this only adds to the experience. The bar: although the staff was lovely, the cocktail I had was pre made and kept in a container, which I understand in a high volume bar, but I expect a more tending service from a quite establishment that charges 18 gbp /cocktail.The restaurant: Had breakfast in the morning, table service. Staff was very tending, however I felt like the food was scarce as I had to ask for every single thing. Had to call the table host at all times, for water, bread, separate orders, coffee, which is not very hospitable. I would rather be able to have a bundle of items on every round, which would justify the price a bit better.

Liked: The staff was very thoughtful and the front desk arranged for a smooth early departure, handing us coffee and pasties to go as we stepped into our arranged, waiting taxi.

Below par.

Liked: The location and look and feel of the bar
Disliked: Despite a nice person The service in the bar was poor. Got offered cocktails but then told cocktails weren’t possible until later. Food arrived slow. Room was clean but cold with radiators turned off and shower water was freezing.
