Lovely 3 night stay

Liked: Location in town was Ideal. A lovely town for a short return visit.As they say we will be back, probably in May..
Disliked: Getting to the car park was difficult.If it had been explained on booking it would have been easier.

Exceptional

Liked: Breakfast was ok, reception was very accommodating staff lovely welcoming
Disliked: We had front room of hotel, opposite Greg's, woken up at 2pm every morning with Greg's lorry delivering food for an hour, very noisy. No sleep if you want sleep have lots beer

Fabulous Town Centre Hotel

Liked: Characterful hotel right in the town centre. We stayed here to break our return journey home to the west coast of Cumberland. It proved a good choice - the hotel & it's decor was traditional but well maintained and clean. Room had all amenities and was clean & comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast: freshly prepared with a reasonable choice of options. Secure parking available.
Disliked: There was a charge to park on the hotel premises, but I'm being extremely picky here!

I would stay again

Liked: I booked with no regard to the hotel as I was there to support a friend at a funeral and wanted to be in the same hotel. I had no expectations when I arrived, tired and late. The staff were welcoming, efficient, and available. The building. I had no idea of the history, or that Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed there in his bid to reclaim the throne in 1745, but history is built into this hotel. I loved the wood, comfortable furniture, and want to know when the art deco glass went in.“I went to the George and had a pot of coffee and muffin and toast, the first comfortable meal I had enjoyed for some days, and I insensibly felt myself restored”. Convenient, friendly, comfortable and reasonably...

Liked: Online check in is always a help. Traditional hotel, warm and friendly. In the centre of town easy to walk out to other restaurants and shops.
Disliked: Paying £3 to park in the hotel car park. I would never expect to have to pay in a hotel car park.
