Disappointing

Liked: Handy if you have to stay in your room for the evening ,coop supermarket across the road and Italian,Indian and chipper opposite. Also bar and restaurant downstairs.
Disliked: Very uncomfortable beds Terrible smell in bathroom from drainsToo hot in roomWere told we had a one and a half year old and a 7 month old with us, but were made to feel very unwelcome from locals in pub as we had babies and was totally overcharged for 1 year old dinner and drinks we had on first night! Did not use bar again in our weeks stay, only to bring a couple of drinks upstairs. Also not much space to move about in room as had single and double bed in it and TV was not smart TV so not much choice and bad reception!

Is an OK stay

Liked: The location was perfect for us as we were going to an event up the road, the village itself is lovely and recommend the italian across the road.As for the hotel I don't really know what to say, our room (room 3) was quirky, the bed was OK, pillows were lovely and fluffy.I can't really say anything about the staff as we saw the person at reception for 30 seconds and didn't really want to speak to us.Housekeeping came everyday to see if we needed anything which was a nice touch.
Disliked: Where to start, blood on the bathroom wall was a bit off putting, a bit dusty, but apart from that, it was OK.Our room was over the pub side, so loud music until midnight, but we were OK with that as it's a pub.We weren't told that the restaurant isn't open during the week, and thankfully I didn't book breakfast because it was non-existent.We were going in and out a lot over the few days but did not see anyone accept the housekeeper when she knocked on the door. The walls are rather thin so could hear a lot from next door. Also, it's an old building, so the floors creek and seems like there's a ramp in the middle of the floor and the kettle was last PAT tested in 2012 so that's a bit concerning.

Liked: As soon as we walked in and were greeted we knew we'd booked the right place. Very polite attentive staff. We had room 15. Called Toad Hall. Wow 4 poster. Huge bathroom with a lovely big bath. Slept so well. Both my wife and myself were totally relaxed and refreshed ready to carry on celebrating on anniversary. We'll definitely be going back. Thanks
Disliked: Going home
