Very good

Liked: Rooms a bit tired looking, for example, decor and the toilet flush. Bar was understaffed as there were a lot of locals in. Breakfast fine, except for the burnt bacon. Staff polite and helpful. Boiler broke on the morning we were leaving. Affected one of our rooms. Great location and parking was good. Fascinating history. Perfectly suitable for our overnight.

Stressful

Liked: Breakfast was nice . But dinner was expensive £18.50 for a prawn crab linguine that had three prawns in it was meant to have chorizo in but asked for without as only eat fish. So was surprised to only have three prawns. But the food was tasty and presented nicely.
Disliked: Bath and loo seat need replacing. It had not been cleaned. Hoovered, the bed had hair in, the floor was dirty. The glasses on the room were dirty. We could not use the bath as it was dirty and un fit for purpose. So had to wet wipe wash. The food was nice but staffs lack of attention to customer care as they are clearly doing to many things at once had not gone unnoticed. The electrics need looking at. Online it states newly decorated rooms they are not. All needs updating. Was given a cold caddy as no fridge in room despite it being a superior room but the caddy smelt and didn’t want to put my daughters milk in it. All baths need replacement and sealant around the bath ext. the bed was comfortable! But with everything else and it needing a hair sweep in the bed. It was hard to feel relaxed. The hairdryer draw had hair in. The waiter announced he was going to clean the toilet floor before serving dinner after we reported the floor having poo on it. This is a beautiful building! It’s such a shame. Electrician and diy needed abd maybe Alex polizzi.

Superb

Liked: Good for an evening meal and great selection of options at breakfast, amazing old buiding, spacious room with high ceiling.
Disliked: We were in Room 1, spacious but with very little in the way of windows and the air duct from the kitchen was rather noisy. If you have the chance, take a room at the front of the hotel.
