The Galmont Hotel & Spa, Galway

Well located near to centre...

Liked: Lovely view over the water. Close to city centre and amenities near by. Comfortable bed and facilities. Easy parking
Disliked: Too many marketing emails prior and even after our stay.

Liked: Breakfast was decent
Disliked: TV in room hanging off wall and could only get 6 channels despite the room info stating that there were 30 channels available. Air con made loud drilling sound every half hour. The room was miles from reception and involved using 2 different lifts

The Galmont Hotel does not...

Liked: After complaining and having to spend one night in a disgusting suite we were relocated to the bridal suite. It was very large and the view was better. The only thing we liked about the place was leaving.
Disliked: On arrival there was no assistance with baggage. We were not given a room that we had purchased. It did not have a courtyard view. In fact we were up top right next to the rusty air conditioning units, right outside our balcony door and they were so loud that the floor in the room vibrated. This was the worst room in the whole hotel and the view was disgusting, like we were in the slums. On further inspection we discovered many things wrong with this room. There was mould in the tiled shower cubicle and a leaking tap which was taped up with plumbers tape. The base of the bed had a big rip in it. The couch was dirty with spots and also the carpet. The basin tap was on an angle and leaking. The standard lamp was broken and leaning against the wall and the shade was swinging because the fitting was actually broken. The desk had paint and marks on the timber. We were absolutely gobsmacked because we paid a lot of money to stay here and expected it to be on par with all the other hotels we had been staying in. This was not the case. We complained to be told that the hotel was full and that they would move us the following day. This is when they located us to the Bridal Suite which was large but also not up to scratch. In fact the whole hotel was sadly lacking in maintenance and it was obvious to us that there was no manager actually checking on how this hotel was running. We were extremely disappointed and couldn’t wait to get out of the place. We had 3 nights in this hotel.

Great stay in a perfect...

Liked: Location was perfect. Staff was super friendly. Parking was on site, which is a big plus.
Disliked: Beds were a little soft. Otherwise, everything was great.
