Terrible hotel experience
Liked: Fantastic gluten free breakfastRestaurant meals were enjoyableThe reception and restaurant were modern and well decorated
Disliked: The staff were rude and miserable, often abrupt when you asked a question.Service was really poor. Several times, it took 20mins at the bar area for an alcoholic beverage even though the bar was almost empty. We sat for breakfast twice without being asked if we wanted a cup of tea or coffee, after 20 mins we had to find a member of staff to request one.We paid for a 2 night weekend break, as a spa hotel we presumed that we would have access to the spa and were not advised differently. We were advised at checking in that we had no access to the spa due to us booking with booking.com, so we basically paid £275 for a room and breakfast!!My partner paid for the spa at £20 each, we entered the spa reception to be informed that we only had access to the small thermal suite as customers only got full spa access if they booked a treatment....what an absolute con and say to say we were furious that we had not been advised of that at booking. The thermal suite was tiny in size, cold and the bathing pool tiles were found floating in the water as they were coming off the sides- we spent 40mins in the thermal suite and left. My partner made a complaint to the manager, she was abrasive and useless..she just told us to speak to the spa staff even though we booked at the hotel main reception!!The rooms are premiere inn at best, they are dark, outdated, and the lighting is one ceiling spot light and lamps. The walls are paper thin, and you could hear everything from the other rooms, including footsteps and others TV volume. For the cost of £275, we would absolutely not return. The reviews were fantastic, so we were so surprised at the poor experience that we had.
