Liked: We loved that the property was small and unique.

Simply wonderful

Liked: There are two noticeable things I want to say about this property. The first is that I have never had a warmer welcome when arriving at a hotel. The staff that greeted us could not have been more welcoming. They gave us a thorough intro to the hotel and then gave us a print out of local places they recommended. The second thing is how clean the room was. It was spotless. Not a streak or anything in sight. We loved our stay here. We have stayed in Portland before and we’re located more downtown, but this opened up a whole new part of Portland we weren’t aware of, so much so that in a five night stay, we only ate downtown twice. Places of note for us were the Tadem Bakery opposite, yes there is a line, there always will be, but it goes quicker than you think so don’t be put off. Another is Bramhall just down the street. A basement bar with great food and drink. And if the Maine Mariners ice hockey is in town. Get a ticket, it’s great fun. We will be back in Portland one day, and we will come back to the Frances.
Disliked: This is really being picky and isn’t actually the fault of the Frances, but if they could, choose a different taxi provider. We asked reception to book us a cab over 24 hours in advance to the train station, well in advance of our train back to Boston for a flight. It was so late that we had to scream at the guard to hold the train whilst running with all of our luggage.

Portland stay @ the francis

Liked: absolutely gorgeous welcome! made to feel very comfortable and the receptionist was very helpful ....stunning boutique hotel! parking is also great
Disliked: location was a bit out of the way for us.

Liked: We enjoyed our stay at The Francis Hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the accommodations were nice and up to date. The parking was convenient.
