Liked: The property itself was beautiful and the rooftop bar was a pleasant experience including the bartender and drink prices.
Disliked: The room TV didn’t work when it came to casting. It worked for YouTube but not HBO. The room had a smell when we first got there of faded smoke scent. We paid $170 for one night and so it was a little disappointing that the casting didn’t work as we planned for a themed movie night. We settled for my MacBook. Upon arrival, we get charged an extra $50 after booking the room just to get keys. I was told we would get this back as it was only an “incidental” fee. We also thought we booked a room that came with breakfast vouchers but they “weren’t on our booking” page. A total of $220 for a one night stay where breakfast isn’t even included. We were supposedly getting this $50 back but come to find out it we were charged $37 and in fact aren’t getting any of it back. We took one water bottle which should also be free in my opinion when you pay for a room.

Liked: This property was in a perfect location to visit family. It’s a nice area of Kansas City close to the Plaza.

We really enjoyed our stay...
Liked: The staff was very helpful and friendly. We really liked the availability of the complimentary shuttle service to restaurants in the Country Club Plaza area. Nice drivers! Wonderfully comfortable beds and very clean rooms. Great rain forest shower!
Disliked: The grab and go breakfast was not good. Poor selection of items and the blueberry scone was doughy. We did not try the full breakfast but should have. Could not find a breakfast place in the area. Could have used a listing of retail shops in the CC area as we did not know what to look for or what was within walking distance.

Great hotel needs a touchup
Liked: What I loved was not the check in, but the morning checkout as the woman at the desk was super friendly, very efficient, helpful, and engaging and not just with me, I had to wait just a few minutes as she was helping another guest as he was pretty demanding about not being charged tax. She was happy to help him and said she would look into it but he needed to wait for his associate to come down with the tax-free form. So he left and without missing a beat or showing any annoyance, she just turned smiling and ready to help me. I also loved the rooms. They were large spacious modern and also the bathroom. It was a shame that a lot of the walks had been attacked walls by luggage. It only required a little bit of touchup which would take five minutes. Also the curtains have been yanked on. I don’t understand what people do and why they do it, but there needs to be a little maintenance at any hotel but especially here as the rooms are lovely, clean and really well designed…!
Disliked: Unfortunately the check-in was not the same experience. I just want a friendly person at the end of the day especially when I came in on time as I had notified them in advance it would be at 10:30pm and was tired. The checkout at the desk great but then as I left it went bad… It was so unbelievable but the valet guy was sitting right by the door on a stool, chugga-lugging, two handed from his large water bottle. I obviously was physically impaired because I had a large cast on my arm and he didn’t offer to help me with my luggage and I would’ve tipped him well just to get it to the Uber. When I showed him my cast on my arm, and asked him to only help me open the heavy door which would’ve required him merely to stand up because it was right next to him. He just sat silently glaring at me like I had landed from outer space and then without a word went back to chugga-lugging his water two handed. When I finally made it through the door with my small roll on luggage, the Uber driver immediately came out and help me. The contrast was jolting. It wasn’t just that he was silently staring at me with a glaring look and unhelpful. He was hostile and frankly made me laugh as he looked a large angry baby. As he just sat there, leaning his head back, grasping with two hands his enormous water bottle chugging away…

Not a good birthday experience!
Liked: The restaurant
Disliked: The staff are not helpful at all. I booked a room with a view and got a parking garage view and heard cars going over the metal speed bump all night long. They would not switch rooms and they charged me twice for my stay. Worst experience!
