Liked: The welcome at reception was professional but friendly, the room was excellent but the stairs were a little challenging. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were all attentive.
Disliked: The stairs.No directions to the rooms from reception, other than the person on reception, as there were multiple access points to various room locations

Not worth the money!

Liked: The property (both rooms and common areas) is beautifully decorated and very comfortable
Disliked: Our room was sold as a suite but it was not really equivalent to a suite room in many other boutique hotels. Despite the heating being on all the time, the room was very cold. There’s a permanent generator outside our window, which was quite noisy. There was a private function at the hotel meaning that we could not use the bar or lounge areas, even though we were paying hotel guests. Our stay was to celebrate my birthday with the family, so it would have been nice to have drinks before dinner (one of the reasons for picking this hotel). Although each member of staff seemed to try and accommodate things, the hotel clearly lacks overall management.

Excellent. Exceeded our expectations. Would...

Liked: Rooms were recently refurbished and so were finished to a high standard with everything clean and in great condition. Food in the restaurant exceeded our expectations... some original dishes on the dinner menu, as well as familiar meat and fish offerings. Very good.
Disliked: Only one small nit-pick; there wasn't any easy chair in the room. Either sitting on the bed, or on a dining chair style seat. But that's a very minor point compared to all the other plus points.

Liked: From arriving at the hotel the staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly after long difficult drive. The hotel was warm and cosy with a very relaxed atmosphere and the room offered everything for a comfortable, relaxing stay. The hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard. The staff are very attentive and we enjoyed excellent food dining in the evening and for breakfast.
Disliked: Nothing, all was just perfect.

Liked: Everything apart from the location of the room.
Disliked: The room number 29 was at the very top with many stairs to climb. We are seniors so found it hard work. We should have been informed when booking.
