Overall, a gorgeous historic hotel

Liked: We book-ended our trip, returning again to the Drake for the final night of our holiday. The Christmas tree and decor were still as impressive as when we first arrived on day one. We also enjoyed dining in the bar Coq d'Or again, it has the perfect classic decor and lighting (1920s/30s) of which I'm very fond of! Tasty food, attentive service and a good buzzy atmosphere, people dropping in for Christmas drinks etc.
Disliked: Overall our return stay was still lovely but in a different room/floor than first night and wasn't as nice. It was a little drab, smaller and faded, but same price as first night's stay so that was a little dissappointing. Also, the lady in the souvenir shop on right hand side on ground floor was quite hostile and unfriendly, she glared at us and barely spoke, I found her manner quite baffling considering we were buying a gift there! Just to clarify we also popped into another shop which had flowers, and that was lovely.

Fabulous hotel full of character

Liked: Beautiful Christmas Tree and decor in Lobby, friendly check-in, amazing afternoon tea in the Palm Court. Personally I love the old world charm and character of this hotel.
Disliked: For this stay there wasn't really anything I didn't like.

Pleasant

Liked: Location was great , nice place
Disliked: The rooms were a little too warm for me no fan and no way to cool it down. I tried turning the temperature down since I arrive. It never got any cooler. I was pretty sweaty all night.

Definitely needs upgrades and special...

Liked: It’s vintage and in a good location.
Disliked: It needs a lot of updating. Wallpaper peeling, stains in the bathroom, fixtures missing from furniture etc. I have always wanted to stay at the famous Drake Hotel since I was young. We decided to celebrate my wife’s birthday and take the kids downtown to see the lights. Also, when I booked I messaged the hotel and made mention that we were celebrating my wife’s 45th birthday and it was our kids first time in the city. I had expected something in our hotel room especially after we paid extra to upgrade. Nothing. We have stayed at some of the best hotels and some middle of the road hotels and I can tell you I was quite disappointed in the lack of service. We plan on staying downtown next holiday season and we will stay at The Four Seasons instead.
