Lots of character and great...

Liked: The Detroit Club has excellent ambiance, a fantastic location, wonderful staff, and really enjoyable common spaces (restaurants, bar, lounge, etc.).
Disliked: Don't believe the room descriptions that're provided. I booked a "Luxury King Suite" (nearly $900 for 3 nights), which on booking.com is described like this: "This spacious suite consists of 1 living room, 1 separate bedroom and 1 bathroom with a walk-in shower and free toiletries. The air-conditioned suite provides a flat-screen TV with cable channels, soundproof walls, a mini-bar, executive lounge access as well as city views."What I was given was a pretty small and bare bones room (i.e. a king-sized bed and not much space for anything else). There was no "living room," no desk, no iron/ironing board (though a staff member brought one for me to use upon request), no coffee maker, etc. I heard plenty through the walls and had to put in ear plugs, I never heard anything about an executive lounge, and the "salt-water jacuzzi in the Grotto" was closed during my stay. Again, the hotel has immense character, the common spaces are great, and the staff was wonderful, but I definitely feel duped by the gap between what was described and what I ended up with.

Nice!

Liked: location was great, the room could have been a little bigger. Brakefast was very poor, for what we paid for the room.

Environment and decor was special....

Liked: Old school vibe showing the history of the building and its place in downtown.
Disliked: Being an old building it had its noise issues, creaks and bangs especially in the evening.

Very good

Liked: Loved the ambiance and the amenities.
Disliked: The bathroom shower had a weak spray, and there was no place to hang the tower by the shower.
