Liked: Beautiful property with friendly staff. Short walking distance to restaurants and entertainment. Loved the view! Updated room with comfortable clean beds/pillows. Quiet.
Disliked: Paint needed updated in the room, wallpaper in bath coming off, cosmetic items and seeer smell in lobby.

Nice

Liked: We liked our first stay better. There was a problem with the reservation so we had to change rooms. In which case we were put by the street. In which case we heard the traffic. The rooms are beautiful. The hotel is beautiful. And the staff in the restaurant was great. The front desk is not friendly. We noticed a problem with the front desk last time as well. And after having a nice quiet room and then moving street side it was less than wonderful. I’ll still stay again but it’s not the greatest value available if you have to stay street side.

Great stay except for the...

Liked: The location, room cleanliness, and staff were outstanding.
Disliked: We had 2 fire alarms! One was at 3:30 AM! We had to walk down 6 flights of stairs half asleep. No fire trucks, rescue squads or any other emergency responders came either time. Had there been a real fire, it would still be burning I guess. This was concerning.

Disliked: The DeSoto was not as we expected. The staff is very unprepared to solve problems. They had infrastructure problems (the fire alarm at morning was terrible). My room was not the same that I reserved. I booked a room to 3 adults with breakfast included, but they blocked me at restaurant. Told us that it wasn’t in the system, even I having showed my reservation with breakfast included and payed. The valet/parking is expensive too.

Passable

Liked: 1. The poolside room was a very pleasing location and I enjoyed swimming in the pool. 2. The restaurant served a delicious dinner and the wait staff were attentive, courteous, and knowledgeable about the menu items.2. The gentlemen at the car valet desk at the entrance were all friendly and welcoming.
Disliked: 1. Emails. You sent a total of 16 emails both reminding me that I had an upcoming trip (even when I had already been there for several days) or asking how my stay had been (before I had left). This implies an inefficient administrative department.2. Ugly scaffolding impeded the exit from my room to the pool. For three days I was assured that each day it would be removed that day. You finally gave me a different room. The scaffolding remained in place. A gesture of apology would have been appreciated but was not forthcoming. The desk staff seemed to be uninformed about the outdoor renovations that were taking place and communication between them was inadequate, which delayed our being able to procure a satisfactory room.3. The ground floor decor is lovely but the two rooms I stayed in looked tired and in need of updating, as did the lounge furniture at the poolside bar.
