Superb
Liked: It had a great vibe, wonderful style, and the location was perfect
Disliked: The restaurant and bar weren’t open yet but they look like they’re going to be great.

Great stay in Providence for...
Liked: Location right downtown, a block from the Amica center where we were attending the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Walkable to some excellent restaurants and the art museum. Staff was great, very comfortable bed, quiet room.
Disliked: No negatives for me.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
Liked: Cool place, nice staff, decent price, good location (easy walk to Amtrak station)
Disliked: SO INCREDIBLY NOISY—- I was in 207 over the karaoke bar, and until about 11pm (maybe later on weekends), my room was rockin’ to mega base and drunk girl anthems. The hotel’s also old and not well soundproofed, so I also got to hear my male neighbor’s morning toilet “up close and personal,” consisting of turning up the radio and singing along in falsetto (think offkey Mick Jagger, “Emotional Rescue”), while repeatedly and violently expectorating.Advice: do not stay on 2d floor or on the side of the building over the karaoke bar (any floor). Bring earplugs.Caveat: I am old and a light sleeper, so you may not be as bothered by all this.

Disappointing.
Liked: Location.
Disliked: Thermostat wasn’t working so couldn’t control temperature in room. No microwave for guests to use. Hotel coffee shop has closed. Light near lower bed not working. One small trash can only (in bathroom). Overall, a pricey bunk bed room that looked outdated and a little shoddy and offered very few amenities.

Such a disappointment after its...
Liked: We did manage to get a good night's sleep.
Disliked: We used to be frequent guests at The Dean, so we noticed right away how much had changed since it was sold. Most bothersome: we always ate dinner at the restaurant and got breakfast at the cafe in the lobby and did not realize both had closed permanently. Most annoyingly: the cafe had no sign saying it was closed, which would have given us time to find another option in the morning. I stood at the empty cafe a long time before I tracked down a staff member who told me it was gone (a coffee machine was on which just made it seem like it was just temporarily unmanned). I instead paid $18 for completely undrinkable instant coffee that was past its expiration date including a $3 boxed water--I had to abandon this beverage and hightail it to a restaurant, making me late for the plans that made me stay overnight at The Dean in the first place. Our honor bar was not stocked with the majority of the food listed on the card--we had to detail a half dozen things that were missing so we wouldn't be charged--and there was no longer any cool local goodies, just generic potato chips and boxed water. The cleaning supplies and toiletries had all noticeably changed for the worse as well. I guess they are trying to make the hotel more profitable (understandable) by taking away everything that made it a nice place to go. I hope they don't mess with The Boom Box karaoke club, the one thing I didn't get to take advantage of this visit. I will not be returning to the hotel as a guest.
