A great hotel in an...

Liked: Location is unbeatable, right by the Minster and an ideal base for exploring the city. Breakfast in the dining room with views of the Minster was excellent. Good service and menu with choice of cooked breakfast delivered to your table and help yourself to cereals, croissants, toast, tea. coffee and fruit juices. Room well appointed and decorated comfortable bed with large screen TV, tea and coffee making. Tiled on-suite shower room with large shower enclosure and heated towel radiator. Lift to all floors. Bar / lounge area with good seating and tables. Great idea is the voucher for a free drink at the bar for each nights stay that you don't need your room serviced. All the staff were friendly and helpful. All in all highly recommended and would be hard to beat.

Disliked: Our room was adjacent to the life and stair door (room 21) very noisy during the night, which woke me frequently - I’m a light sleeper.

Fabulous shork break for my...

Liked: Perfect location , very close to the Christmas market, the Shambles and York Minster. All the food we had was delicious and brought out promptly. Very cheerful and friendly staff. Spotlessly clean room with great facilities. Room was very warm and snug.
Disliked: The sofa has a fixed reclined back which was not great for those with back problems. Some cushions might have helped a bit.

Liked: Fabulous location in York. Great breakfast and lovely staff. Room was clean and comfortable.
Disliked: No water provided. The downside of being opposite the Minster was the bells ringing at 8am! I was awake though so not actually a problem.
